In 2016, Russ retired from medical practice. This has finally allowed him to pursue his life-long dream and passion of performing original and traditional music. He counts Bob Dylan, John McCutcheon and Walt Michaels as major influences in his style. His live performances are a mix of folk, Celtic and blues-inspired tunes with multiple instrument changes interspersed with his off-beat humor and wry observations about life that keep the audiences coming back for more. Ted Yoder’s hammered dulcimer cover of Tears for Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” became one of the most-watched Facebook Live posts in 2016 when the song received more than 101 million views from music fans around the world. It’s no wonder the video went viral; when a bare-footed Yoder performed the hit on his hammered dulcimer in his Indiana family’s backyard with his wife, kids, and their pet raccoon, named Gidget, in the audience, he immediately became an internet sensation known as the lovable “Dulcimer Dad.”
Alf Bashore

Alf Bashore II is a multi-instrumentalist from the Danville area. He specializes in acoustic instrumental music in a variety of styles including Blues, Celtic, Traditional and Folk. Alf performs often at area coffee shops, festivals, fairs, and flea markets. Alf gives music instruction at Schoolhouse Music and privately. Alf began his love of music at the early age of nine, which has progressed through six decades. While playing an array of instruments, he has been teaching for the past 35 years. Alf is the co-founder of Off the Wall Dulcimer Society and Frosty Valley Dulcimer Friends and founder of the Iron Ukulele Benders Club.

The Free Reeds

‘The Free Reeds’ is the musical collaboration of renowned piano accordionist Rob Curto, and acclaimed button box player Corey Purcell. These two seasoned musicians combine the strengths of their free reed instruments to create a truly unique performance experience and incorporate a variety of influences to their musical repertoire including traditional music of Ireland, France, Sweden, and Canada, in addition to many original pieces as well.

Charlie Zahm is one of the most popular soloists at Celtic music festivals, Maritime, and American Traditional music events anywhere east of the Mississippi. With a baritone voice some have described as "coming along once in a generation," Charlie has become one of the most successful performers on the Celtic festival circuit, weaving magical moments of Scottish and Irish history for the listener and viewer, with passion for the performance and a chosen repertoire pleasing to all members of the family. A master of the guitar as well, Charlie brings an authentic love and respect for the music he sings-and with dashes of humor and a light in his eyes, he will draw you into the stories of his songs!
Linda Russell

Mixing music with history comes naturally to Linda. She grew up in the Wisconsin countryside where she went to a one-room school. Her Mom was a church organist and her Dad the local historian. On family vacations, the Russells followed a trail of history, visiting Civil War battlefields, pioneer villages, and waterways of voyageurs. History was tangible on these journeys and Linda was captivated. Singing came easily to Linda, and she credits her Mother with instilling in her the pure joy of singing and passion she feels for all types of music. lindarussellmusic.com
East Side Dave Trio

Folks attending the April concert will get a three-for-one sampler. Dave Kline & The Mountain Folk Trio will be doing some old-time Americana Music, but audience members will also get to see the first public mini-performances of two new groups Dave is creating: Dave Kline & The Hex Highway Rangers, performing a show celebrating the magic and myth of the American Singing Cowboy; and Bracken, a group dedicated to presenting Celtic folk music and a fusion of Irish, Scottish and Appalachian Mountain music.

Castlebay has been musically weaving together the heritage of New England and the Celtic lands since 1987. Members Julia Lane and Fred Gosbee have loved and researched traditional music for most of their lives and blend history, legend, and experience into their personable performance style. Their concerts feature poignant ballads sung in Lane's ethereal soprano and Gosbee's rich baritone interspersed with joyous dance tunes played on Celtic harp, guitar, fiddle, and tin whistle. Castlebay treats the audience to a musical journey through time and across the Atlantic. The duo also presents special theme concerts on various aspects of Celtic lore, nautical life or Colonial America.
